See how many answers you have left
What counts as a new answer, what is free, and what to do when the allowance runs out.
In short
Under the question box, the assistant shows the AI allowance that runs out first, for example "3 answers left this hour", when it resets, and that repeats are free. Only a real model call counts. When answers run out, the line says when they come back, and your own key keeps working.
Before you start
- Who: anyone signed in who uses the platform's AI. With your own key there is no platform allowance to count.
- Plan: AI is part of every plan, Free included. On Free the platform's key answers questions about how {{brand}} works. For questions about your own work, add your own key (it is free to add) or choose a paid plan (see /help/ai/answers-left).
- First: nothing. The line under the question box shows what is left.
Steps
- Open the assistant with "Ask AI".
- Read the line under the question box: how many answers are left and when they reset.
- For the full picture, open Settings › Plan & usage, which lists the month's AI budget and the hourly limit.
- If you run out, press "add your own key" on that line, or add one in Settings › AI.
Result: you know how many questions you can still ask, and when the count resets. Nothing shows when your plan sets no limit.
Good to know
- Reused answers, and a question with no key set up, cost nothing.
- On the platform's key, each new answer spends from the month's AI budget - shown in dollars, with about how many answers it still buys - and counts toward an hourly limit.
- On the Free plan the platform's key answers questions about how {{brand}} works; the rest needs your own key, which is free to add, or a paid plan. A trial answers everything its trial allowance covers.
- On your own key (saved or session) or your organization's key, the bill is that key owner's. So only a larger daily fair-use allowance applies, and nothing is spent from the platform's AI budget.
- Whatever the plan, one person can send at most 20 questions a minute.
- Asking how a feature works is answered from the guides and is free to repeat. Keep your own key for questions about your data.
If something goes wrong
- "No new answers left this hour" or "this month": wait for the reset shown, or add your own key - questions move to your provider's account at once.
- Platform AI is paused: the platform's monthly allowance is used up, for free and trial workspaces first, and for everyone if the whole allowance is spent. The assistant says when it is back. Your own key keeps working.
- "The AI provider is limiting requests right now. Try again shortly.": your own provider is limiting you. Wait a moment, or check your plan with that vendor.
