Add an AI summary
Have the model write a short summary above a report's numbers.
In short
An AI summary is a short card above a report's numbers: two to four sentences, a few highlights, risks and recommendations, quoting only numbers that appear in the report. It is a reading aid, not a source.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who can run the report and use AI. A summary on the platform's AI uses your plan's AI budget; with your own AI key it uses your key.
- Plan: AI is part of every plan. On Free the platform's key answers questions about how {{brand}} works, so other AI work there uses your own AI key (see /help/ai/answers-left).
- First: decide whether the report may be sent to the AI provider. It is sent as text (see the warning below).
Steps
- Open a report.
- Tick "Add AI summary".
- Press "Save report". The report opens with a card that says "Written by" and the model's name. To write the summary without keeping a copy, choose "Run without saving" in the … menu.
- Check the tables below before acting on a recommendation.
Good to know
- A summary holds up to four highlights, three risks and three recommendations. Each number it quotes is findable in the tables.
- It is stored with a saved report and included in the Excel, PDF and Word downloads.
- On the platform's AI key, each summary uses a little of your plan's AI budget.
- A schedule has its own "Include the AI executive summary" switch and asks for a summary on every run.
The report is sent to the AI model To write the summary, the report is sent as text: every headline number, up to 25 rows of each table, chart values and the previous run's date. Project names, endpoint URLs, assignee names, vacancy titles and applicant headlines can be in it. Do not turn it on for a report you would not paste into that provider yourself.
If something goes wrong
- No AI key is configured, so there is no summary: add a provider in Settings › AI. The rest of the report is unaffected.
- The model could not write a summary this time: run again later. The numbers are unaffected.
- "The AI budget is used up for now": the report is complete but has no summary.
