Read figures and dashboards
Every figure says in one sentence whether this month is better than the last. Read the dashboards, open the records behind a number, and make dashboards of your own.
In short
A figure is one number the product counts - deploys, cards finished, checks passing, time to hire - with one sentence that sets it beside the period before and a verdict. Dashboards group figures; open one to see the records behind the number, or make a dashboard of your own.
Before you start
- Who: anyone signed in sees the values of things they can open. A team's value is for the team's people, its leads and people who see the organization's analytics; the organization's value is for people who see the organization's analytics.
- Plan: Analytics is part of every plan, Free included. Your own dashboards are up to 20 per workspace.
- First: turn on the products you want counted. A built-in dashboard shows only figures of modules that are on for you.
Open a figure and the records behind it
- Open Analytics, and press "Use my data" if the "Sample data" view is showing. The dashboard switcher in the title ("Switch dashboard") lists Delivery, Quality, Work, Hiring and Usage, then your own.
- Use the filter row (on a narrow screen, press "Filters" first) to set the Period for every card at once, and a Project, a Team or an Environment where a card on this dashboard can use one.
- Press a figure's name to open its page: what it counts, which way is better, the last 12 months and how it compares.
- Press the number to open the records behind it - the runs, cards or deploys it was counted from. For a time, the longest come first.
- Tick records to act on them: "Copy links" puts their links on the clipboard to paste into a card or a message, and "Download" writes only the ticked ones (with none ticked, all of them, up to 1,000). "Connections and map" in a record's … menu shows what it is connected to, with a Map view.
Make a dashboard of your own
- Choose "New dashboard" at the foot of the dashboard switcher, or choose "Customize a copy" in the … menu of a dashboard.
- Name it and choose its figures. They are grouped by product - open a group to see each figure with what it counts here now (its value and a small line of its months), or search them by name. Under "Order on the dashboard", drag a figure by its handle, or use its … menu, to put them in the order you want.
- Choose "Card" on a figure's row to set its size (small, medium, large or full width), its picture (the number alone, a line or bars of its months, or a ring for a share) and what it counts - the dashboard's filters, or always one team or one project, where the figure can be counted so. A card with its own team or project keeps it whatever the filters say; the environment filter still applies.
- Tick "Open it with the filters chosen now" to keep the current filters, and press Save.
Hear when a figure crosses a line
- Open a figure's page with the project, team, period and environment you care about.
- Under "Tell me when", choose "Goes above" or "Goes below", type the number in the figure's own unit, and press "Add alert".
- The figure is checked every hour as you would see it. When it crosses the line you get one message in your inbox; it tells you again only after the value came back, or after you change the line.
- Use the switch to turn an alert off for a while, or the bin to remove it.
- An alert follows a period that moves with the calendar - this or last month, or this or last quarter. Made from a fixed range, it follows this month.
- Your alerts are yours alone, up to 25 in a workspace, and never show you a value you could not open.
The dashboards
Under the dashboards, "This period" answers in one line, for example: "5 of 8 figures are better than last month. Tests failing after a deploy rose from 8% to 21%."
Who sees which value
- A team's or the organization's value counts only things that are not private. A private thing counts in its own value and nowhere above it.
- A team's value for a month shows only when the team had three people or more on every day of it.
- A value you may not see is not on the page at all. A site administrator's role opens none.
Good to know
- A card shows the value, its sentence, the last 12 months as a small trend and a verdict: Better, Worse, The same, Not enough yet or No judgement.
- The sentence is made from the numbers by fixed rules; no AI writes it. A figure with too few cases says so.
- A built-in dashboard shows only figures of modules that are on for you. The row offers only filters a card here can use. When a filter leaves some cards as they were, one line above the cards says how many it changed.
- Records in places you cannot open are not listed; the list says how many there are.
- Your dashboards are yours alone: up to 20 per workspace, up to 24 figures each. Edit, Delete and Copy link are in each dashboard's … menu.
- A dashboard with nothing to count says why. A built-in one says its figures fill in as work happens in the product, with a button to open that product. With no product on, it offers "Turn on a product that counts work" and "Choose products".
- "Browse reports" opens the report catalog. "Show the example dashboard" in the … menu brings the example back for the visit. A workspace with no figures yet opens on the example, and offers it again from an empty dashboard.
- Dashboards have a "Download" menu with Excel and PDF, using the filters you set.
- Phone and tablet: on a narrow screen press "Filters" first to reach the Period, Project, Team and Environment.
- To undo: Edit, Delete and Copy link are in each of your dashboards' … menu. Deleting a dashboard changes no figure.
- The cards sit three across on a computer, two on a tablet and one on a phone.
- When the industry comparison is on and enough organizations of your size take part, a card shows their typical range as a thin band under its sentence, with your value marked on it and "Below", "Within" or "Above the typical range" in words. It never says whether that is good - the verdict does.
- The filters you set stay in sight as chips under the filter row - also on a phone, where the row folds - and the cross on a chip removes that filter.
- "Saved filters" keeps the filters you set under a name and brings them back on any dashboard. Share one with the workspace, or open dashboards with it, from its menu. It keeps the filters only, never the dashboard.
- Ask the assistant about a figure by its name ("how many cards were closed this month?"): it reads that figure for this month as you see it on your dashboards. A question that names no figure reads none.
Beside organizations of your size
Where an organization takes part in the industry comparison, its cards also show what is typical for organizations of its size, once enough take part. Someone who manages the organization's settings decides this in Settings › Industry comparison. That page shows exactly what is filed: rounded values and a size band, never a name. They can withdraw at any time. It is not offered in a private installation.
If something goes wrong
- "You can keep at most 20 dashboards of your own here. Delete one first."
- "A dashboard holds at most 24 cards."
- "Not enough people in that month": the team was smaller than three on some day.
- "The industry comparison is for organizations. Switch to an organization first."

Team and organization dashboards
Pick "Organization dashboard" or a team's dashboard in the dashboard switcher. Everyone in the organization, or in the team and the leads above it, sees the same tiles - but only those they may see; the others are counted, never shown.
Inside an organization, the organization dashboard opens first when its editors have added a tile you may see; otherwise the first built-in dashboard does. A team dashboard starts with how the team sits beside the other teams that chose to be compared - last month, each figure beside what is typical for them, never a ranking and never naming another team.
- Press "Edit dashboard". Leads of the team's branch can edit a team dashboard; people who manage the organization's settings can edit the organization's.
- Press "Add a tile" and pick a figure or the headline of a report. A team dashboard's figures are about that team.
- Move, resize, change the chart or remove a tile (Undo brings it back), then press "Save dashboard". If someone else saved first, choose "Reload" or "Keep mine".
Pin a figure to Home
On a figure's page press "Pin to Home" to keep it under your Home tiles, for the team or project and period you are looking at. On Home, "Customize" › "Pin a figure…" adds more, and "Arrange" moves, resizes or removes them. Your Home is kept on your account, so it is the same on every device.
