Start a report from a recipe
Open a ready report with its period already set, then save it to keep it.
In short
A recipe is a report that is ready to read: the right report for a common question, with its period already chosen. Press one and the numbers show at once; save the report if you want to keep that copy and compare the next one with it.
Before you start
- Who: anyone signed in who can run the report behind the recipe.
- Plan: Analytics is part of every plan, Free included.
- First: the recipe's product must be on for you; otherwise the recipe is not shown.
Steps
- Open Analytics › "Reports". "Catalog" shows "Start from a recipe" above the report groups.
- Press the recipe that answers your question: "Weekly team summary", "Release readiness", "Hiring funnel", "Time by project", "API reliability" or "Quality trend".
- Read the report. If it runs against something, choose a project or board in the first drop-down; change the "Period" if you want another.
- Press "Save report" to keep this copy, or "Schedule…" to get it on a rhythm.
Result: the report opens with its period set, and nothing is saved until you press "Save report".
The recipes
Good to know
- Only the recipes you can run now are shown: the report must exist and its product must be on for you.
- A recipe opens the best report you can read. Time by project opens your team's time when you may see it, and your own time otherwise.
- A recipe saves nothing by itself. The same six are in the Templates gallery as "Report" starts, and they open the same way.
- Recipes here are reports to read. The Recipes page of Templates holds automations you switch on; see /help/home/templates-and-recipes.
If something goes wrong
- No recipe row: none of the six can run yet. Turn a product on in Settings › Products, or press "Choose products" on the empty catalog.
- "Nothing to run this against yet": the recipe needs a project or a board. Create one first, then open the recipe again.
