Read how a board is going: Insights

One sheet with this week, the forecast, the report, the pulse and the flow of a board.

In short

Insights is where a board tells you how it is going. It is one sheet with five tabs - "This week", "Forecast", "Report", "Pulse" and "Flow" - so you do not hunt through menus and layouts. It reads what the board already keeps; there is nothing to set up.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Open the board and its … menu, then choose "Insights". On a phone the sheet fills the screen.
  2. Pick a tab. "This week" shows what moved and what is at risk. "Forecast" gives a likely finish day. "Report" holds the totals, "Pulse" the throughput and cycle time, and "Flow" where work piles up.
  3. Open a card from any list to look at it; the sheet closes. On "Pulse" or "Report", "Show these cards" filters the board to the cards behind a number; on "Pulse" a week or a span of a chart lists the cards behind that bar, and on "Flow" a column under "Show the cards now in" filters the board to that column.
  4. At the foot, "Estimate cards" starts an estimation session, and "Estimation sessions" lists the past ones.

Result: you have the board's week, its pace and its totals in one place, and one press to act on them.
