Set goals and see if they are on track
A goal groups epics. Its progress comes from their features, and it tells you early when it falls behind.
In short
A goal says what a group of epics is for, such as customers paying online. {{brand}} works out its progress from the features of those epics, from Idea to Live.
It compares that progress with the time left before the target day, and marks the goal at risk early.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who may change cards on the board adds a goal. Everyone who can open the board sees it.
- Plan: any plan with Boards.
- First: a product board with Epic cards (see /help/boards/start-a-product-board).
Add a goal
- On the product board, press "Reports" and open "Goals".
- Press "New goal".
- Write the "Goal", pick a "Target day" and tick the "Epics" that count toward it.
- Press "Add goal".
Read a goal
- Progress: each feature counts from 0 at Idea to 100 at Live, and the goal shows the average.
- The mark on the bar shows where the goal should be by today.
- "On track", "At risk" or "Done". A goal is at risk when a feature is broken, the target day has passed, or progress trails the time gone by more than 15 points.
- Once the board has a goal, the leading one shows at the top of the board under "Goals".
Let AI do it
Ask AI to create a goal or to link epics to it. It shows the goal first, and "Undo" takes it back.
