Forecast when work will be done
See a likely finish day, with a range, for a parent card, for the cards a view shows or for a cycle, from your team's recent pace.
In short
The forecast works out a likely finish day for the cards still open, from how many cards your team finished each day over the last 12 weeks. It gives one likely day and a range. It is a guide, not a promise: it moves whenever the work or the pace changes.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who can open the board; only cards you can open count.
- Plan: every plan.
- First: the board needs at least 5 cards finished in the last 12 weeks.
Steps
- Open a parent card and read the "When will it be done?" line in its Sub-items tab, or open the board's ... menu, choose "Insights" and open the "Forecast" tab. The "Filters" sheet's forecast line opens it too.
- Read "Likely around" and the range.
- Open the details to see what the forecast learned from and how many cards it played out.
Result: a likely day such as "Likely around 14 Nov", with the early and late ends of the range.
Where to ask
Read the range
Good to know
- It plays the days out thousands of times over the cards left. It counts cards, not estimates, so cards of very different sizes make it less certain.
- Only cards on boards you can open are counted.
- A card counts as finished when it reaches a done column, the way the pulse counts it.
- The forecast is a reading, not a record: it moves whenever the work or the pace changes.
