Find a key and read its value
Scan a database with a pattern and open a key to see its type, TTL and value.
In short
On the Keys tab, type a pattern to scan a database for keys. Then click a key to open it beside the list, with its type, time to live and value.
Before you start
- Who: people who work on the connection (Edit) see keys and values. With View or Run you see the key names, types, sizes and TTLs, but every value is hidden. On a Production connection the Keys tab is for Edit only. Use "Ask for more" to get Edit.
- Plan: reads are free and do not count against your plan, but scans count toward 120 cache calls a minute per person.
- First: choose a connection and a database.
Find a key
- Select a connection in the rail and the database in the header picker.
- Type a pattern in "Key pattern" - * alone lists everything. The scan starts once you stop typing, or on Enter.
- Optionally narrow by "Key type".
- Scroll: matches arrive a page at a time with their type and TTL until "End of scan". "Scan again" refreshes.
- Click a key to open it.
What the inspector shows
Good to know
- A scan is a snapshot: keys can expire or arrive between pages. Changing the pattern, type or database starts over.
- TTL is the time until the server deletes the key, such as 2h 15m; no expiry means it stays until something deletes it.
- Collections are paged, up to 500 items at a time, with Previous and Next.
- A string longer than 256 KB by default is shown clipped and cannot be edited, so a partial value is never written back.
- Scans and key reads count toward 120 cache calls a minute per person. Reads do not count against your plan.
- Below 1024 pixels wide an opened key takes the whole screen; "Back to keys" returns to the list.
If something goes wrong
- Key not found: the key expired or was deleted since the scan.
- No keys match: the pattern is too narrow, or the keys are in another database. Check the Server tab's Keyspace.
- The scan cannot be answered: press Retry, or test the connection.
