Fix a connection that will not connect
Read what Test connection says and what to change.
In short
The {{brand}} server opens every connection, so the cache must accept it from there. "Test connection" names what went wrong; this guide says what to change.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who can open the connection can test it; changing it needs Manage.
- Plan: cache calls are limited to 120 a minute per person.
- First: the address and the password of the Redis server.
Steps
- Open "Connections" and press "Test connection" on the connection.
- Read the message and find it in the table below.
- Fix the host, port, firewall or password, edit the connection and test again.
If something goes wrong
Good to know
- Allow the {{brand}} server's outbound address in the cache's firewall or bind address.
- By default the server refuses a host that resolves to a loopback or private address, or that it cannot resolve. Nothing you type gets round those rules; ask your administrator.
- A test that passed yesterday and fails today means the server, its password or the network changed. Test again for the reason.
