Present a design

Show a design full screen, view by view and journey by journey, with speaker notes and a laser pointer.

In short

Present turns a design into a full-screen talk. It shows the whole design, then each view with its notes. For a workflow it also shows each journey, with its steps lit up one by one. Presenting changes nothing in the design.

Before you start

• Who: anyone who can open the design can present it.
• Plan: Designer is part of every plan, Free included. The Free plan limits how many designs a workspace keeps; Plan & usage shows the limit and what you hold.
• First: write speaker notes under "Views and layers…" if you want them.

Steps

1. Open the design, choose "Show" and then "Present".
2. Move with the arrow keys, Page Up and Page Down, or press "Next slide" and "Previous slide". On a touch screen, swipe.
3. Press "Notes" to read the speaker notes of a view. Press "Laser pointer" to point at the screen.
4. To let others follow on their own screen, press "Copy link" and share it. Whoever may open the design lands straight in the presentation, read-only.
5. Press "End", or Escape, to leave.

Good to know

• The first slide is "The whole design". Then come one slide for each view, and for a workflow one for each journey, such as "Way through 1".
• Write the notes for a view under "Speaker notes" in "Views and layers…". See /help/designer/views-and-layers. The first slide's notes are the design's description.
• The link opens the presentation only for people who may already open the design; anyone else is told the design is not found.
• Present shows the saved design. Anyone who can open the design can present it.
• On a phone the buttons are larger, and the count shows where you are, such as "2 of 6".

If something goes wrong

• "This is the first slide." or "This is the last slide." - there is nothing further that way.
• A workflow shows no journey slides: it has no journey that ends yet. Finish a flow with a success or an error step.
