Show one design in several views

Make named views of one design, each showing chosen parts placed as you like, and hide layers on your own screen.

In short

One design can have many pictures. A view shows the parts you choose, placed the way you arrange them there. A layer is a label you hide or show on your own screen. Views and layers change how the design looks, never what the design is.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Choose "Show" and then "Views and layers…".
  2. Under "Name of a new view", type a name and press "Add view". Or select parts on the canvas first, then press "Add a view of the 3 selected".
  3. Choose what the view shows: parts by name (select them and press "Add the 2 selected"), or "Also show these kinds", "Also show these tags" and "Also show these layers".
  4. Write "Speaker notes" if you will present this view.

Result: choose "Show", then your view under "Show on the canvas". "All parts" brings the whole design back.

  1. In "Views and layers…", find "Layers". Type a "Name of a new layer" and press "Add layer".
  2. Select parts on the canvas and press "Put selected here" on the layer.
  3. Press the layer's "Hide" button to take it off your screen, and "Show" to bring it back.
