See who a design change reaches and tell them
Before you sync the plan, see which cards, test cases and endpoints a change reaches, who owns them, and announce it.
In short
Once a workflow's plan is made, a change to the workflow reaches cards, test cases and endpoints. A line under the toolbar says what, for example "2 cards change, 3 test cases change, sign-off is voided; owned by Ann, Bob and 2 more". A save tells nobody. Only announce or sync does.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who can open the workflow reads what a change reaches. Announce needs Edit.
- Plan: Designer is part of every plan, Free included. The Free plan limits how many designs a workspace keeps; Plan & usage shows the limit and what you hold.
- First: make the plan; the line appears only when the workflow has one.
Steps
- Change the workflow. A few seconds after you save it, a number on "Create the plan" in the toolbar counts the changes it reaches.
- Press "Create the plan". Under "What syncing changes", press "Show what" to see each card, test case and endpoint and how it changes.
- Press "Announce" to tell the people this change reaches.
- Press "Sync the plan" when you want the cards and tests updated.
Result: "Announced to the people this change reaches", and "Last announced" shows when.
Good to know
- "Sync the plan" updates only what the design owns on the cards and tests. A person's own changes stay, and nothing is deleted.
- "The sign-off of version 14 no longer matches the design." means the change voids that sign-off; ask again when you are done.
- Announce needs Edit on the workflow.
- What happens next: "Announce" tells the people this change reaches; a save tells nobody. "Last announced" shows when.
If something goes wrong
- "This change reaches nothing the plan made." - nothing to tell; the plan's cards and tests stay as they are.
- "What this change reaches cannot be read now." - try again in a moment.
