Find a guide or a video in Help
Search Help, browse by module or role, and watch the videos that follow one kind of person.
In short
Help has a guide for every module, readable without signing in, and short videos that follow one kind of person through {{brand}}. Search it, browse by module, or narrow it to your role.
Before you start
- Who: anyone, signed in or not.
- Plan: none.
- First: nothing. Choose "Show guides for" to narrow Help to your role.
Find a guide
- Open Help in the header and choose "Help Center".
- Type in the search box, pick one of the most popular guides, or a goal under "Start with a goal".
- If no guide holds every word you typed, search shows the closest matches and says so. Search also knows other words for the same thing: "remove" finds the guide that says "delete". When the guides do not answer, press "Ask the assistant about" your words.
- Or use the menu beside the page: every module, its guides by level and the open guide's sections. Type in its filter box to narrow it. On a phone, press "All guides" to open it.
- Use "Show guides for" to narrow everything to developers and QA, recruiters, managers or organization admins.
How a guide reads
- Every guide starts with "In short": what it is, when you use it and the result. The guide's picture or clip sits right under it.
- Then "Steps" - numbered, one action each, with the button and field names in quotes as the screen shows them. A guide with several tasks has one short list per task.
- Then "Good to know" (rules, limits, who may do it), "If something goes wrong" (the real messages and what to do) and "Related" (the nearest guides).
- Above the sections, You'll need names what the guide needs: an account, a plan feature or a permission. Long guides list their parts under On this page.
- A guide whose work the product can walk you through shows "Try it now" near the top. "Do it with me" starts a guided task that opens the screen and ticks each step as you really do it; once you have done it, the card says Done.
- Under the sections, "Words in this guide" lists the product words the guide uses. Each one opens its plain meaning in the glossary, and the glossary lists the guides that explain each word under "Explained in".
- "Open Boards", "Open Planner" and the like lead to the screen the guide describes, and every guide leads to the previous and next one in its module.
- Pictures open full size when pressed. A clip plays silently and loops while it is on screen. If you prefer reduced motion, in your system or in Settings › Appearance & language › Motion, it shows its first frame with a play button.
Guides by level
Each module's guides are grouped by level, so a newcomer sees the start and an expert finds the deep parts fast. Every guide and search result shows its level.
At the end of a guide, "Next" follows the module's level path; reading on from the last guide of a level says "Next level".
Rate, date and print a guide
- "Updated on" under the title says when the guide's words last changed.
- "Was this helpful?" at the end takes Yes or No, and with No one optional reason. Only counts are kept - never who answered.
- A search that finds nothing is counted too, so the guides that are missing get written. A term that could be an email, a number or a token is never kept.
- "Print / Save as PDF" prints the guide without the menu and buttons, with its address at the end.
Videos
Videos follow a developer, a QA engineer, a recruiter, a team manager and an organization admin. Subtitles are on by default, in English, and chapter buttons under each video jump to the part you need. Open "Transcript" under a video to read every line that is said; press a line to play from there. A guide that has a video shows "Watch the video" at its top and in the dock.
Good to know
- The assistant behind Ask AI reads these same guides when it explains how {{brand}} works, so a guide and its answer say the same thing.
- Signed in with Notes on, a search also lists your team's wiki pages that answer it, below the guides. Only pages you may open are listed, from the workspace you are in.
- A video still being recorded is not shown; the guides cover the same ground meanwhile.
- Module tiles follow the header order and the modules you use.
- At the top of Help's home, "Your path" picks a few guides and tasks at a time for your role. "Mark as done" at the end of a guide ticks it off, and "Next on your path" leads on. See /help/home/your-path.
- When you are signed in, Help's home shows "Do it now": a few guided tasks you have not done yet in the modules you use, each with "Do it with me".
