Answer screening questions - in writing or by voice
How to answer the written questions a hiring team sent you, what AI does and never does with your answers, and how recording an answer works if it is offered.
In short
A hiring team may send you a few written questions. Open the link from the email, write your answers and send them once. Some teams let you record an answer instead; AI only turns it into text for you to check.
Before you start
- Who: the candidate. The link in the email works without signing in.
- Plan: none.
- First: open the email before the deadline it names.
Answer the questions
- Open the link in the email, or the application under Jobs › "Find work" › "Applications".
- Read the notice: what is collected, where AI helps, who reads your answers and how long they are kept. Tick that you have read it.
- Write your answers and press "Continue". Follow-up questions may appear under your answers - answer them if you can.
- Press "Send my answers". You can send once.
Need another way to answer? If writing is hard for you or you need more time, reply to the email: it goes to the hiring team, who can offer another way.
Record an answer instead of typing
- Under "Answer by voice", read what you agree to and press "I agree - let me record". Allow the microphone.
- Press "Record my answer" under a question, speak, and press Stop. One recording is at most 3 minutes.
- Your words appear in the answer box. Correct anything - the text you send is your answer.
- To stop, press "Take back my agreement and delete my recordings" and carry on in writing.
Good to know
- Recording is always optional; a written answer counts exactly the same.
- The recording is deleted as soon as it is text. Nobody at the organization hears it.
- AI never scores, ranks, recommends or rejects you, and never analyzes your voice, tone or feelings.
- A follow-up asks only what the team approved in advance. If you applied in English, it may quote a few of your own words, chosen by AI; otherwise it uses the team's wording.
- Reviewers may see a short AI summary of a longer answer beside your full answer. You can read what AI wrote about your answers, ask the team to correct or erase it, and it is erased with your application.
If something goes wrong
- "The deadline for these questions has passed. Ask {organization} for more time.": reply to the email.
- "This application is closed, so there is nothing to answer."
- A recording could not be turned into text: it was deleted. Write that answer instead.
