Open a role as a board
See a role's pipeline in Boards, one column per status and one card per applicant, kept in step with Jobs both ways.
In short
Open a role in Boards to see its pipeline as a board: one column per status, one card per applicant. Moving a card moves the application, and changes in Jobs move the card.
Before you start
- Who: you must manage the role, and in an organization hold "Create and manage boards". Anyone who can see the board reads the applicant names and cover notes on its cards.
- Plan: Jobs and Boards must both be on your plan. The board counts as one of the workspace's boards.
- First: open the role in Jobs.
Open the board
- Open Jobs › "Hiring" and open the role.
- Press "Open in Boards" in the bar above the stages - or choose it in the role's … menu. The first time, the board is built.
- After that, "Open in Boards" takes you straight to it.
What is on it
A card is one applicant, titled with their name and headline, with their cover note as the description. You can rename, recolor and reorder the columns, but not delete them.
How it stays in step
- Drag a card to another column and the application moves. The timeline records Hiring board, and the candidate is notified.
- A status changed in Jobs moves the card, a new applicant arrives as a card, and a candidate who withdraws moves to Withdrawn.
- A forbidden drag is refused and the card stays where it was.
Good to know
- The board is named "Hiring: " followed by the role's title, and lives in the role's workspace. A role has one hiring board, and it cannot be moved to another workspace.
- You must manage the role, and in an organization have the boards manage permission. It counts as one of the workspace's boards.
- Anyone who can see the board can read the applicant names and cover notes on its cards. Comments, assignees and due dates on a card stay on the board.
A drag is a real decision It notifies the candidate at once, and no note or message can go with it. Use the pipeline in Jobs for that.
If something goes wrong
- "Open in Boards" is missing: you do not manage the role, or Boards is off for you or not in your plan.
- The plan's boards are used up: archive a board first.
