Anchor a note to a record
Tie a note to a request, suite, vacancy, SQL test or another note so it follows that record.
In short
Anchor a note to a card, request, suite, vacancy, SQL test or another note, and it waits in the Notes dock whenever that record is on screen. Each anchor shows as a chip in its module's color with the record's live state.
Before you start
- Who: writing a note and anchoring it need Edit on the notebook. You can anchor only to records you can open; a lock chip means you cannot open one.
- Plan: every plan.
- First: have the record in mind (a card, request, suite, vacancy, SQL test or another note).
Link a note to a record
- In the note, press "Link to a card or request".
- Under "What to link", choose its kind, such as Card or Request.
- Type part of its name and pick it from the results.
- The chip appears above the text and the note saves. Repeat to link more.
Suggested records
When you press "Link to a card or request", the picker lists Suggested records first: records named like the note's title or one of its headings, from the modules you use. You only see records you can open. Press one to link it.
What you can anchor to
Good to know
- A chip reads, for example, Request - List invoices. Click it to open the record; its × removes the anchor.
- A chip previews the record as its module describes it: whether a test run passed, a card's column, when a run happened.
- A screen can be about one record: an open card, a saved request, a vacancy, or a UI Tester test or run. Then the title row shows Notes with a count, and the Notes dock lists them. Only notes the reader can open are counted.
- A note can have many anchors, and a record can have many notes.
If something goes wrong
- A lock chip: you cannot open that record, so its title is never shown.
- "A note cannot link to itself."
