See who reports to whom
Set each member's manager, read the org chart, and open a person or a team to see everything connected to them.
In short
Each member can have a manager - another member of the organization. The Members tab shows the people as a list or as an org chart along these manager lines. Opening a person or a team shows who they report to, who reports to them, their teams and what points at them from every module, with a map.
Before you start
- Who: every member sees the org chart. Setting or changing someone's manager - your own included - needs "Invite and manage members".
- First: nothing. Open the Members tab.
Set a manager
- Open the organization and choose "Members".
- Press the member's row and change it under "Profile" in their card; it saves itself.
- In "Manager", search and pick the person they report to. The member and the people below them are not offered, so the line never goes round in a loop.
- The change saves itself; to remove the manager, clear the field. Choose "Done" to close.
Read the org chart
- On the Members tab, choose "Org chart" above the list.
- People with no manager stand at the top. Use the arrow button beside a person to fold or unfold the people who report to them.
- Type in "Find a person on the chart" to keep only the people who match, shown inside their lines with every manager above them.
- Choose a person to open their card: who they report to, their direct reports and what points at them. Choose a name on the card to move to that person.
What a team connects to
Select a team in the tree. At the end of its page, "Related" lists the team above it, its sub-teams, its people (the lead and the deputy first) and what other modules filed under it. Switch to "Map" to see the same as a graph you can move through.
If something goes wrong
- "Manager" is read-only: your role cannot manage members. Ask someone who can.
- "That person already reports to this member": the person you chose is below the member in the line. Pick someone above or beside them.
- A team is missing from someone's card: it is a hidden team you are not allowed to see.
