Plan a cycle in points

Plan a cycle with the estimates of your cards: scope, capacity in points, burndown and burnup, velocity, and cards picked from a board.

In short

When a cycle holds estimated cards, it plans in points: scope, done, remaining and each person's load, with a burndown, a burnup and velocity. "Plan from a board" picks the cards that fit the room left.

Before you start

Plan from a board

  1. Open a cycle that is not closed and press "Plan from a board".
  2. Choose the board. The last one you used is remembered; an organization's cycle offers that organization's boards.
  3. The board's unfinished cards come in board order. Those that fit the room left are ticked and marked "Fits".
  4. Change the ticks. The foot adds them up, for example 3 cards · 13 points, and says how much room is left.
  5. Press "Add 3 cards" - the button counts the ticked cards. Up to 100 cards go in at once.

Set capacity in points

  1. Open the cycle and press "Edit capacity".
  2. For each person, set their capacity in points beside their hours.
  3. Press "Save capacity". Load reads, for example, 8 of 13 points.

Burndown and burnup

In points, the Burndown shows the points still open each day against an ideal line. The Burnup shows Scope, which moves up when work is added, and Done, which rises to meet it. If Scope climbs, work was added after the start. Both appear from the cycle's second active day.

Velocity

Velocity shows the points each closed cycle finished, for up to the last six cycles. It also shows the average, whether it is rising, steady or falling, and how much of what they committed to they finished. It appears once a cycle closes with estimated cards. It is for planning, never for judging people.
