Change one occurrence of a repeating item
Tick, move or remove one day of a repeating item, the days after it, or the whole series.
In short
A repeating item shows once on every day it happens. Each of those days is an occurrence you can change on its own: tick it done, move it or remove it, and the rest of the series stays as it was.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who may edit the item's calendar.
- Plan: every plan, Free included.
- The item repeats: it was saved with "Repeat" set in its sheet.
Change one day
- Tick the checkbox of the occurrence in a lane. Only that day is done; the next occurrence is still open.
- Drag the occurrence to another time, or press Alt+Up or Alt+Down on it. Only that day moves. The message that follows offers "Move the later ones too" to move every occurrence after it the same way.
- To remove it, open the row's … menu, choose "Delete…" and then "This occurrence", "This and the following" or "All occurrences".
- Open the occurrence to see its own day in the sheet. "Done for this day" and Delete there change that day; any other change saves itself to the whole series.
Good to know
- "This and the following" ends the series the day before and starts a new one from the moved day, with the same people and reminders.
- A reminder never fires for an occurrence that is done or removed.
- Snooze is not offered for one occurrence: move it instead.
If something goes wrong
- "This item has no occurrence on that day." - the series does not happen on the day you picked; open the item and check its Repeat rule.
- "This item does not repeat, so it has no single occurrence to change." - change the item itself instead.
