Set who can reach a feature
Give each capability an audience and an on/off switch.
In short
Feature access gives every capability an audience - who can reach it - and an on/off switch. Each change saves the moment you make it.
Before you start
- Who: only a site admin. The Admin console is in the avatar menu of a site admin and nowhere else.
- Plan: a Customer feature also needs to be ticked on the plan.
- First: inspect a person who cannot reach something, to see which check blocks them.
Steps
- Open "Admin console" › "Feature access".
- Find the capability: type in "Search features" or pick a "Module". Each module is a folded group; a search opens the groups that match.
- Choose its "Audience", or turn its "On" switch off or on. "Who can use it:" says in plain words what that means.
- The word after the controls says "Saving", "Saved" or "Could not save".
Good to know
- The platform's own access-administration feature cannot be switched off or re-audienced, so the console cannot lock you out of itself.
- A Customer feature also needs to be ticked on the plan; see Create or edit a plan.
- On a private installation a feature keeps the audience it came with. To hide one there, switch it off or take it out of the plan.
If something goes wrong
- "Could not save": check your connection and change the value again.
- People still cannot reach a feature: inspect one of them in Users to see which check blocks them.
