Look after job sources and reported jobs
Switch the sources Job search reads, see which ones fail, and decide on jobs people reported as fake.
In short
Job sources is where the shared pool of jobs in Job search is read from. Each source has a switch and says how it is doing. Jobs that people reported as fake wait at the top for a site admin to decide.
Before you start
- Who: only a site admin. The Admin console is in the avatar menu of a site admin and nowhere else.
- Plan: none.
- First: nothing. "Reported jobs" shows only while a report waits.
Switch a source on or off
- Open "Admin console" › "Job sources", under Product.
- Read the line above the list: "Every source that is on reads fine.", or how many sources need a look. Those come first under "Sources".
- Read a source's row: its state ("Reading fine", "Failing", "Not read for a while", "Not read yet" or "Off"), "Last read" and its open jobs. A failing source also says since when, how many reads failed in a row and its "Last error".
- Use the source's "Read" switch: off stops reading it, on reads it again. It saves at once.
Result: a source that is off is never called. Jobs already matched for people stay.
Decide on a reported job
- Under "Reported jobs", read the job, its number of reports, "First reported", what the fake check found and the notes people left. Who reported it is never shown.
- Press "Open the posting" to look at the job on its own site.
- Press "Not fake" to dismiss the reports, or press "Hide as fake" and then "Hide as fake" again to confirm.
Result: a hidden job leaves Job search for everyone, and the agent never brings it again.
Good to know
- A source marked "Off until the source agrees" stays off until its owner agrees to be read.
- "Not read for a while" means no good read for three of its refresh intervals. It is read again when its turn comes; if it stays, check that the source is still up.
- People report a job with "Report fake" in Job search.
If something goes wrong
- "The site asked us to slow down.", "The site took too long to answer." or "The site could not be reached.": the source is read again on its next turn. Act only if it keeps failing.
- "The site answered with something that is not a job list.": the source changed what it sends. Switch it off until it is fixed.
- "Reading failed for an unexpected reason. The server log has the details.": ask the server operator for the log.
