Try the examples, then take them away
Add small examples to try right away, see where they are, and remove them in one place.
In short
Examples are small, ready pieces of work marked "Example": a bookstore API project, a launch board, an architecture, a role with a candidate at each stage and more. They let you click around before you make anything of your own. Settings › Examples is the one place that adds and removes them.
Before you start
- Who: anyone signed in. In an organization only its owner adds or removes examples.
- Plan: examples are small and may be left out when the plan has no room; the part that fits is added.
- First: nothing. Removing examples never removes what you made yourself.
Steps
- Open Settings › "Examples".
- Under "Examples by goal", press "Add the example" beside the goal you want. Each row then reads "Added", "Partly added" or "Not added".
- Under "Examples in this workspace", find a product that holds examples and press its own remove.
- To take every example away at once, press "Remove all examples".
- Dated examples age. Once they are a day old, "Move dates to today" brings their calendar, time, hiring and test history up to today; anything you changed stays as it is. Only the workspace's owner sees it.
Result: only the examples go. Anything you made yourself - even something built on an example - stays.
The example company
The "Example company" section is for looking around a whole finished organization: boards, an API project, notes and a planned week. Press "Explore an example company" to open it, and "Remove the example company" to take it away; removing it also deletes what you added there, and it asks first. The workspace menu offers "Explore an example company" too.
Good to know
- Every example is marked "Example". A product screen that holds some says so and its menu offers "Remove examples" for that product.
- In an organization only its owner adds or removes examples.
- The welcome page's switch "Add examples so I can try right away" adds the examples of the cards you picked.
- A workspace where you may not add examples offers "Try it (not saved)" in the testing products instead: see /help/sql-tester/try-it-not-saved.
If something goes wrong
- "Some of it was left out: the plan has no room for more.": the plan's limits were reached. The part that fits was added.
- "Only the workspace's owner adds or removes examples here.": ask the organization's owner.
