Choose the products you see
Switch products on or off for yourself, and use the welcome page that asks what brings you here.
In short
Settings › Products has one switch per product. Switching a product off hides it for you only: it leaves the header, Home and search, and nothing is deleted. The first time you sign in, a welcome page asks "What brings you here?" and takes you there.
Before you start
- Who: anyone signed in. Your switches change what you see in your Personal Workspace only.
- Plan: a module the plan leaves out shows "Not in your plan" and cannot be switched on.
- First: nothing. In an organization its administrators choose the modules, and a module they turned off stays off for you.
Hide or show a module
- Open Settings and choose "Products". In an organization this page is called "Personal workspace products" and says it changes only your Personal Workspace.
- Type in "Find a product" to narrow the list, or scroll to the group: Testing, Work, Jobs, Team or Insights.
- Turn the product's switch off to hide it, or on to show it again. Each group's own switch, such as "Show all Testing products", switches the whole group.
- A message confirms it, for example "Boards hidden." The header, Home and search follow at once.
The welcome dialog
The first time you sign in after you create your account, a dialog asks "What brings you here?" Your answer is where you start. A new account starts with Boards, Designer and API Tester and what you pick here; if you were invited into an organization, you keep every product, or the ones its admins chose.
- Pick the cards that fit: "Test APIs", "Test databases", "Test a website", "Plan work", "Design a system", "Hire", "Find a job" or "Just look around". You can pick several; the first one you pick is where you start, marked "You start here".
- Leave "Add examples so I can try right away" on to get the examples of the cards you picked. It is not offered where you may not add examples, such as to a workspace you were invited into.
- Press "Start". You land where the table below says.
- Or press "Choose products" in the line under the cards. Switch on what you need and off what you will not use, then press "Hide 3 and continue" when you switched any off (the number is how many), or "Save and continue". "Back" returns to the goals.
Add or remove examples
- Open Settings › "Examples". See /help/settings/examples for the whole page.
- Under "Examples by goal", press "Add the example" beside a goal to fill the products it covers, or "Remove the example" to take it away. "Remove all examples" takes away every one.
- The row shows "Added", "Partly added" or "Not added". "Examples in this workspace" lists each product that holds examples now.
Good to know
- Your switches are for your Personal Workspace. In an organization, its administrators choose the modules, and a module they turned off is gone for you whatever your switches say. Settings › Products says so above the list.
- A card marked "Hidden" is one you switched off. A card marked "Not in your plan", with "See plan", cannot be switched on until the plan includes it.
- AI Assistant closes the Insights group. Off removes Ask AI; your saved keys stay in Settings › AI. Help is always on and has no switch.
- Removing an example takes away only the examples, never anything a person made, even inside an example. In an organization only its owner adds or removes them.
- Closing the welcome dialog with Esc or × when nothing changed is the same as "Continue". Either way it never appears again, on any device. If you signed up to apply for a role, it says "Your application is waiting" and leaves you on that role.
If something goes wrong
- "Your choices could not be saved": check your connection and press the button again. Nothing changed.
- "The examples could not be added. Untick them to go on without.": untick the examples and continue; add them later from Settings › Examples.
- "Some of it was left out: the plan has no room for more.": the plan's limits were reached. The part that fits was added.
- "Only the workspace's owner adds or removes examples here.": ask the organization's owner.
