Sign in with Google or Microsoft
Use Continue with Google or Microsoft to sign up or sign in, or link one to your account in Settings to sign in with one click.
In short
Where it is offered, "Continue with Google" and "Continue with Microsoft" sit in one row under "or continue with" on the sign-in and sign-up pages; the buttons read "Google" and "Microsoft". Link one to your account under Settings › Sign-in & security, and your password and passkeys keep working beside it.
Before you start
- Who: anyone. Linking is done by a signed-in person in Settings.
- Plan: none.
- First: a Google or Microsoft account whose email address is verified there.
Steps
- On the sign-in or sign-up page, under "or continue with", press "Google" ("Continue with Google") or "Microsoft" ("Continue with Microsoft").
- Sign in at Google or Microsoft and come back.
- Open Settings › "Sign-in & security" and find "Sign in with Google or Microsoft".
- Press "Link" beside the provider and confirm it is you.
- Press "Continue to Google" (or Microsoft) and sign in to the account you want to use.
Result: "Sign-in added. You can use it the next time you sign in."
Good to know
- An existing account is never linked by itself. If you already have an account with that address, sign in to it once with your password or passkey, and the provider is linked then.
- Two-step sign-in is still asked when your account has it on.
- "Remove" works only while another way to sign in remains - a password, a passkey or another provider.
- A Google or Microsoft account linked to one account here is never linked to a second.
- Personal Microsoft accounts can be linked from Settings, but cannot create an account by their address.
If something goes wrong
- "You already have an account with this email address. Sign in to it once ..." - sign in the usual way; the link is made then.
- "People at this address sign in through their organization's single sign-on." - choose "Continue with single sign-on".
- "Google or Microsoft has not verified this email address ..." - verify it there, or sign up with your email.
- "This is your only way to sign in. Add a password or a passkey before removing it."
